Saarland brings up the rear when it comes to charging facilities for electric vehicles
In no other federal state is the charging network for e-vehicles thinner than in Saarland. This is according to data from the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). In Saarland, there are 30 e-vehicles for every publicly accessible charging point. The national average is 21, with Saxony leading the way with just under 14 electric cars per charging station.
However, the infrastructure for electric vehicles in Saarland is relatively homogeneous compared to other federal states. The Merzig-Wadern district is at the top with 25.6, while the Neunkirchen district is at the bottom of the table with 39.8. According to the VDA, there are a total of 766 publicly accessible charging points in Saarland, 121 of which are fast chargers.
Despite Saarland's struggles with electric vehicle charging infrastructure, some consumers in the region are still opting for electric cars. However, the scarcity of charging points means that each electric car in Saarland is associated with approximately 30 public charging stations.
