1. FC Saarbrücken wins opening game in 3. Liga. Coach Rüdiger Ziehl's team defeated traditional rivals TSV 1860 Munich 1-0 (0-0) away. The game was largely balanced, but Patrick Schmidt scored the winning goal in the 71st minute. This was his comeback after breaking his shin and fibula in September 2023.

Next up for Saarland is their first home game of the season on August 11 (7:30 PM) against SV Sandhausen.

After their triumph in Munich, FC Saarbrücken prepares for their home opener against SV Sandhausen on August 11. Despite being in Germany, this will be their first home match of the season.

SV Sandhausen will be the next challenge for Ziehl's team, as they look to continue their successful start in Germany.
