Saar double budget: SPD presents result of consultation
The state parliamentary group of the SPD, which is the sole governing party in Saarland, has discussed the financial planning for the next two years. This Wednesday, parliamentary group leader Ulrich Commerçon and Minister President Anke Rehlinger will present the results of the closed meeting on the 2024/25 double budget in Homburg.
With the votes of the absolute SPD majority, the state parliament approved the draft double budget for 2024 and 2025 at first reading in mid-October. It envisages expenditure of 5.8 billion euros for 2024 and just under 6 billion euros for the following year.
According to a parliamentary group spokesperson, the budget for 2024/2025 will be voted on in the Committee on Budget and Finance on Tuesday after a hearing on the transformation fund on December 7 and then finally adopted in plenary on December 13.
The discussion over household expenses also incorporates politics in the double budget planning, as highlighted in the state parliamentary group meeting. Moreover, the SPD's parliamentary majority will further deliberate on the double budget in the Parliament's Committee on Budget and Finance.
