S-Bahn runs to the airport again after the end of the hostage situation
Now that the hostage-taking at Hamburg Airport is over, the S-Bahn is running again to the airport. The closure has been lifted, the S-Bahn Hamburg announced on the x platform (formerly Twitter) early on Sunday evening. The S1 trains are running every 20 minutes. "Delays are still possible," it said.
Following the closure of the airport on Saturday evening, S-Bahn Hamburg had also suspended train services to the airport. Shortly before the resumption of S-Bahn services, the airport had also resumed operations on Sunday.
After the airport resumed operations, air traffic gradually increased, causing some congestion. Despite the improved air traffic, railroad police continued to patrol the railroad tracks near the airport to prevent any crime-related incidents.
