S-Bahn expects "massive disruption" due to strike
The warning strike by the train drivers' union GDL is also affecting Berlin. "Massive disruptions to S-Bahn services are expected," the S-Bahn announced on X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday evening. The GDL has called its members to a warning strike from Wednesday, 10 p.m., until Thursday, 6 p.m..
According to the Berlin S-Bahn, there may be disruptions before the strike begins and after it ends. "Use alternative means of transport," advised the S-Bahn. Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe are not affected by the strike.
As a result of the strike, city traffic might significantly increase due to the increased use of personal vehicles as an alternative to S-Bahn. Moreover, some consumers might face additional tariffs when utilizing public transport services provided by Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe that aren't affected by the strike.
