S-Bahn derails at station: main line section closed
An S-Bahn train has derailed at a Munich station - it is still unclear how this happened. The main line was closed between Pasing and Ostbahnhof on Thursday morning until further notice.
None of the 15 passengers were injured in the incident during the night, according to spokeswomen for the Federal Police and Deutsche Bahn (DB). The bogie of the S-Bahn train jumped off the track shortly after the exit at Isartor. The train was to be recovered in the morning. An estimate of the damage and further details were not yet known.
The unexpected derailment of the S-Bahn train halted Upper Bavaria's railroad traffic in the area, affecting commuters from Pasing to Ostbahnhof. In the midst of investigating the causes of the incident, safety measures were instituted to handle any potential emergencies related to the derailed train.
