On the weekend, around 1000 youths and young adults from different parts of Germany gather in Jübek, Kreis Schleswig-Flensburg, for the 39th German Youth Day (DLT). A significant number of them arrived as early as Friday morning, via a special train that started its journey from Ravensburg near the Bodensee and ended at Jübek station. After quick refreshments, they proceeded with accompaniment from the town band.

The chairpersons of the Schleswig-Holstein Youth Association, Lena Hagge and Tajo Lass, shared their ideologies: "We're going to unfurl our sails and raise our flags: it's time for us to set sail, signify unity, and pave the way for the future." They added, "It's vital that we show our worth and embody our values, democracy, and promote the countryside youth."

It took approximately 10,000 man-hours for the volunteers of the Schleswig-Holstein Youth Association to set up this event, as they disclosed. Participants of the DLT are provided with plenty of options to choose from - from farm and business tours to canoeing and bowling, as well as yoga. In addition, there are two parties and a theatrical premiere scheduled.

On Saturday morning, some dignitaries such as the Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Claudia Müller, the President of the German Women's Association, Petra Bentkämper, and the President of the German Farmers' Association (DBV), Joachim Rukwied, are also expected to join a discussion round.

During their leisure time, some youths opted for farm tours, gaining insights into local agriculture. On Sunday, a large group decided to spend their day by Lake Constance, enjoying the scenic views and tranquility. Many associations from Schleswig-Flensburg and Schleswig-Holstein participated in this annual event, showcasing their initiatives and contributions to the rural community.

Looking towards the future, the participants were encouraged to think about the importance of rural life and how they could contribute to its development. The event concluded with a promise to strengthen associations, fostering a sense of unity within the German youth. Regardless of their hometowns, such as Ravensburg near Bodensee or places further north like Schleswig-Flensburg, each individual left the gathering feeling more connected to their fellow youths from across Germany.
