Rowing boat collides with ship: One seriously injured
A rowing boat capsized in a collision with a ship on the Rhine near Cologne. The ship's crew rescued the three rowers, aged 61 to 75, from the water, police said on Monday. The 75-year-old rower was seriously injured and taken to hospital. The two other occupants of the boat suffered minor injuries.
The 51-year-old skipper carried out an emergency maneuver to prevent the collision on Sunday afternoon, the police said. The investigation into the cause of the accident was ongoing.
The emergency maneuver by the skipper barely averted a more serious accident. In such emergency situations, quick action and proper response are crucial.
