Retail trade - Röther takes over Adler fashion stores

The Württemberg fashion retailer Röther is taking over the Franconian fashion chain Adler. Logistics service provider Zeitfracht, which took over and restructured Adler in 2021 out of insolvency, intends to focus more on its core business and is separating from its shares, as the Berlin company announces.

The family-owned business Röther operates 51 Modepark stores in Germany and Austria and employs around 2500 employees. "The acquisition of Adler Mode Märkte GmbH is an important strategic step for us to expand our retail network," say Michael and Thomas Röther. The growth potential with synergies from retail and wholesale trade is to be exploited. The stores will continue to be operated under the Adler brand.

The parties involved have agreed to keep the purchase price a secret. The takeover is still subject to the approval of the authorities.

The Adler stores in Germany generated sales of 297 million Euros and an Ebitda of 6 million Euros, adjusted for special effects, in the previous year and are opening new markets this year.
