Cultural policy - Roth: Culture is crucial for living together in diversity
The "Cultural Integration Initiative" presented 15 theses on social cohesion in a cosmopolitan society at the Chancellery on Monday. The alliance of social partners, media, churches, religious communities, civil and state organizations has reportedly revised a paper from 2017. "Cultural integration is the key to the peaceful coexistence of all people in our country", the theses state. The participants are "resolutely opposed to anti-Semitism, racism and any form of group-based misanthropy".
In the view of Minister of State for Culture Claudia Roth (Greens), the theses show "how cohesion can succeed in our colorful and diverse immigration society". Culture can make a decisive contribution to coexistence by opening up spaces for dialog and understanding. She wants to promote a culture of democracy with a concept of culture "that addresses society as a whole, wants to include everyone in their diversity and invite them to participate". This also includes a modern culture of remembrance in the immigration society.
