Rot-Weiss Essen terminates contract with ex-captain Bastians
Third division soccer club Rot-Weiss Essen has terminated the contract with its former captain Felix Bastians. The club made the announcement on Thursday. The now 35-year-old defender had already been released from training and match duties in October. "With this decision, everyone involved now has the opportunity to look ahead," said Essen CEO Marcus Uhlig.
Bastians has played for RWE since September 2021 and played 69 competitive matches for the club in that time. The veteran has played for a total of 14 professional clubs in his career.
Rot-Weiss Essen is a team competing in the third league of German soccer. Despite his contributions, the club decided to part ways with defender Felix Bastians, who had been with Red-White Essen since September 2021.
