Soccer - Rostock's slump continues: 0:3 in Paderborn
Interim coach Uwe Speidel did not bring Hansa Rostock the hoped-for turnaround. In his first game in charge of the second-division club, the head of the youth department was unable to prevent a 3-0 (0-1) defeat. Adriano Grimaldi (25 minutes), Raphael Obermair (67) and Kai Klefisch (75) secured a deserved victory for the East Westphalians in front of 12,260 spectators at the Home Deluxe Arena on Friday in a match that was threatened with abandonment at one point.
The visitors, whose goalkeeper Markus Kolke was shown the red card after an emergency brake (63'), therefore remain in third-last place in the table. Paderborn, on the other hand, climbed to sixth place for the time being. The match had to be interrupted for nine minutes in the first half and 19 minutes in the second half due to repeated use of pyrotechnics in the stands. "Rocket fire really doesn't have to be. So much can happen," Kolke told pay-TV channel Sky. "I'm happy that nobody was hit." Hansa sporting director Kristian Walter also distanced himself "completely" from the riots on behalf of the club.
Two days before the clash with Paderborn, Rostock had parted ways with previous head coach Alois Schwartz after picking up just one point from the previous three games. They now want to use the upcoming winter break with a new coach to provide the right impetus for the second half of the season.
This impetus seems to be urgently needed. Paderborn could have had a clearer lead at half-time, but had to make do with just one goal from Grimaldi. Following a corner from Obermair, Grimaldi took advantage of the confusion in the Hansa defense and shot the ball with great force into the bottom left corner. It was only after the long break in the second half that Paderborn began to play more efficiently. Aided by Kolke's dismissal, Obermair scored with a clearance and Klefisch with a header.
