The Rostock Sharks have brought on board center Philipp Hartwich. The 28-year-old steps in to fill the spot vacated by Darnell Brodie, whose temporary contract didn't get renewed.

Hartwich has been playing basketball in the Bundesliga for teams like Weißenfels, Göttingen, and Würzburg for the past four years. Standing at 2.18 meters tall, this center has agreed to a one-year deal with the Sharks.

"I'm thrilled about the chance to help out with the fledgling initiative led by coach Przemyslaw Frasunkiewicz. I've been attracted to the club ever since their promotion to the Bundesliga, and the city is just fantastic," Hartwich shared. "Philipp has a good understanding of the league, is highly experienced, and brings both defense and solidity to the center position," said Rostock's new sports manager, Kevin Anstett.

The Sharks' inaugural competitive match in the BBL Cup will be against last season's Bundesliga-relegated team, Hakro Merlins Crailsheim, on September 14. They'll then begin their league campaign against Mitteldeutscher BC a week later.

Hartwich's excitement is palpable as he joins the Rostock Sharks at the Start of the new season, eager to contribute to the club's initiatives. With Hartwich's addition, the Sharks look forward to a stronger center position during their BBL Cup match against Hakro Merlins Crailsheim, which marks the Start of their league campaign.
