Rostock Seawolves concede first home defeat

Two days after their commanding success in the Europe Cup against Larnaca, the Rostock Seawolves suffered a setback in the German Basketball League. The team of Head Coach Christian Held lost 85:97 (50:53) to Mitteldeutscher Basketball Club on Friday evening and so conceded defeat in the Stadthalle for the first time after four home wins in all competitions this season. The home side's best scorer was Derrick Alston (21 points).

Rostock got off to a good start, but then fell behind due to a poor shooting percentage. Whereas the home side was only successful on six of its eleven attempts, the MBC put the ball in the Seawolves' basket on each of its nine shots. Rostock recaptured the lead midway through the second quarter, but had to surrender it again after a short time.

The MBC then decided the game in the third quarter. The visitors won the period 23:17 and went into the final period with a nine-point cushion. The Held team was then no longer able to turn the tide.

Despite their strong performance in the Europe Cup, the Men's Rostock Seawolves experienced a downfall in the Bundesliga, as they lost to Mitteldeutscher Basketball Club 85:97. Despite showing potential in Basketball, they failed to maintain their momentum, leading to their first home defeat of the season in the Rostock Seawolves' Stadthalle.
