Last generation - Rostock Christmas tree sprayed with paint
Activists from the climate protection group Letzte Generation sprayed paint on a Christmas tree and a Christmas sculpture in the center of Rostock on Wednesday morning. Police officers arrested the four suspects near the scene of the crime, according to the police.
The climate activists also had two banners with them. The group stated that despite "flashing lights, shiny decorations and a festive atmosphere", climate change should not be forgotten, as the world is racing towards a future full of catastrophes. The police have launched an investigation on suspicion of criminal damage to property.
The Last Generation has been demonstrating and protesting for more climate protection with road blockades and other actions since the beginning of 2022. Among other things, the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin was sprayed with paint. Numerous investigations and trials are underway against members of the group, many of whom have already been convicted.
