Roommate murdered: Final judgment against couple
The verdict against a couple who killed their roommate is final. On November 15, the Federal Supreme Court dismissed the appeals of the defense as unfounded, as the Ulm Regional Court announced on Wednesday. The two defendants had each been sentenced to life imprisonment for murder on April 6.
The court considered it proven that the then 27-year-old and her 24-year-old boyfriend had severely abused and ultimately killed the woman's ex-boyfriend and roommate in their house in Laichingen (Alb-Donau district). The man was strangled one night in early June 2022. The woman is said to have used lies and manipulation to incite her boyfriend against the roommate.
The defendant's defence lawyer had demanded an acquittal, while the 24-year-old's defence lawyer demanded a prison sentence of three years and three months for causing grievous bodily harm. Both had lodged an appeal after the verdict.
The final judgments in this case involved the conviction of a couple for the murder of their roommate. The complex legal processes leading to this conclusion included dismissals of appeals and sentencing for life imprisonment.
