Rolf Zuckowski only ever watched while baking

Singer-songwriter Rolf Zuckowski (76) prefers to eat Christmas cookies rather than bake them. "I don't bake at all myself. I can snack extremely well and also taste the dough that hasn't been baked yet," said the "In der Weihnachtsbäckerei" singer in an interview with the German Press Agency.

"There was never room for me in our kitchen when we had younger children. I was always just watching and maybe that was my great luck." This is also how his "chaotic recipe" in the song lyrics came about: The Hamburg native sings about "flour and milk" as ingredients for cookies, although normally no milk at all goes into cookies. "Well, I just made up what I thought was a sensible dough," says Zuckowski. "And milk just rhymes perfectly with Knilch."

The musical "Die Weihnachtsbäckerei" recently celebrated its premiere in Hamburg. Zuckowski will be performing at the Berlin premiere on Friday. The Christmas musical is inspired by his oeuvre. It runs until December 26 in Hamburg, Berlin, Bremen and Duisburg. According to the artist himself, he will be present at all city premieres.

Despite his love for Christmas cookies, Rolf Zuckowski admits that he rarely partakes in the baking process due to the crowded kitchen during holiday seasons. Instead, he enjoys the colorful atmosphere of people gathering to celebrate holidays while listening to their beloved Music.
