Thousands of music fans are heading to Nuremberg for the weekend to attend Rock im Park, a major music festival in Germany. With over 70 bands set to perform on three stages, the event will also feature Die Ärzte, Green Day, and Måneskin. They're also playing at the twin event, Rock am Ring, in the Eifel region.

Many attendees arrived early on Thursday to set up their tents and gear on the festival grounds. Some carried beer cans, turned up the music, put on rubber boots, and wore cool headgear. Veterans brought trailers to save their camping equipment from the long trek across the site.

Mosquito repellent is a must-have at Rock im Park. Those around the festival's pond seem to be quite comfortable in good weather, and last year, numerous revelers had to be treated for mosquito bites causing allergic reactions by medical staff.

The weekend forecast is perfect for the festival

The German Weather Service predicts great weather for the event: partly sunny skies, some clouds, and temperatures up to 25 degrees. Last year, around 70,000 guys and gals allowed themselves to drip with sweat in front of the stages under the blazing sun.

The organizers were hesitant to provide an attendance estimate this time. "History has shown us that lots of spontaneous people show up - especially when the weather's nice," spokesman Stephan Velten shared. The festival is held near the 1. FC Nuremberg Stadion, a stadium for a second-tier football club. Easy access by train and bus makes it an appealing choice for many people making the decision to attend the event at the last minute. Tickets for individual days or the whole weekend are still reasonably priced, according to Velten.

The Indie band Against The Current and the American group The Last Internationale are scheduled to start off the festival on Friday. Following them, you'll hear the metalcore group Electric Callboy, the Canadian folk-rock group Billy Talent, and the American punk band Green Day, all according to the schedule.
