- Robbery of Valuables: Criminal Groups Facing Trial
A group is under investigation for a string of burglaries in the Lippe area, with a few individuals appearing in court in Detmold. Four individuals from Oldenburg and Kassel are accused of robbing a delivery driver in January in Augustdorf. This person was transporting high-value items to a storage facility at night. The defendants are said to have made off with gold bars and jewelry worth more than 150,000 euros.
Some of these suspects, along with unidentified accomplices, are believed to have broken into the very same warehouse in October 2023. During this incident, gold bars, coins, precious metals, and jewelry valued at nearly 60,000 euros were taken.
The prosecutor's office has also charged several defendants, aged between 21 and 29, with breaking into a delivery service in Barntrup, which is also within the Lippe district. They are alleged to have stolen bundles of mail totaling approximately 11,200 euros.
During the second day of the trial, the defense implied that the defendants might be open to admitting their wrongdoings. A suspected accomplice, who is said to have insider information, is reportedly in custody. Charges against him were filed at the beginning of August.
Additional trial dates have been set until October.
The prosecutor's office further accused the defendants of targeting a courier service in Barntrup, aiming to steal valuable parcels. Their actions resulted in the loss of 11,200 euros worth of mail.
To strengthen their case, they plan to use the evidence obtained from the individual in custody, who allegedly provided information about the courier services hensifications in their criminal activities.
