ADAC - Roads to the North Sea and Baltic Sea noticeably fuller at the weekend

Due to summer holidays in five federal states, the roads towards the North and Baltic Seas will noticeably become busier this weekend, according to the Traffic Club in its traffic jam forecast. Additionally, travelers from Northern Europe are on their way to the sea and south, a spokesperson for the ADAC Hansa Club stated. Delays are expected on the A7 autobahn due to construction sites south of Hamburg at Egestorf and before the Elbtunnel. Traffic will also be slowed down between Hamburg and Flensburg due to construction sites at Bordesholm and Owschlag, but the lanes will only be shifted, as stated by the Autobahn GmbH Nord.

On the A1 between Hamburg and Lübeck, there could be delays especially near Bargteheide. The autobahn will be narrowed to two lanes in both directions due to bridge work in that area. To the north of Lübeck, there is a potential delay at a construction site between Bad Schwartau and Pansdorf in the southern direction. Drivers heading to North Frisia need to be patient northwest of Hamburg. The A23 between Hamburg and Heide is still only single-lane traffic until the end of July at Pinneberg.

The traffic jam situation should still be contained this weekend, according to the ADAC spokesperson. The next major wave of travel will only come with the start of the holidays in North Rhine-Westphalia on the weekend of 6./7. July. Lower Saxony and Bremen, as well as Saxony, Thuringia, and Saxony-Anhalt, are already on holiday.

Construction site reports of the Autobahn GmbH ADAC Traffic Jam Forecast

  1. Despite the summer vacation in Schleswig-Holstein starting this weekend, many travelers are still planning to visit the Baltic Sea, contributing to the increasing traffic on the roads towards the sea.
  2. If you're planning a weekend trip to Lower Saxony or driving through it on your way to Northern Europe, be aware of potential delays on the A7 autobahn due to construction sites.
  3. ADAC warns that traffic on the A1 between Hamburg and Lübeck could be quite heavy during the summer vacation, especially near Bargteheide due to bridge work.
  4. If you're planning a summer vacation in Hamburg or any of the cities along the North Sea, consider taking public transportation or alternative routes to avoid the expected traffic congestion.
  5. Travelers heading to the Baltic Sea this summer should consider joining the ADAC or checking their traffic jam forecasts regularly to stay updated on construction sites and potential delays on German roads.
