A 47-year-old man drove his car off the road near Aitrach (Ravensburg district) and ended up in the river Iller. The car left the slippery road on Monday morning and overturned as it drove down a slope, according to the police. The car ended up in the Iller and drifted a few hundred meters before coming to a halt against a tree. The driver was able to free himself and climb onto the roof. The fire department, the DLRG and the German Red Cross came to the scene of the accident to rescue him. A towing company recovered the vehicle.
