- Road incident on A6 near Mannheim - Traffic halt and casualties
After a rear-end smash resulting in injuries, the A6 close to Mannheim-Sandhofen saw a shutdown for approximately an hour heading towards the Viernheim interchange during nighttime. As per police records, a driver needed to abruptly halt in a building site, which the driver behind identified, but the driver following behind failed to do so. Consequently, a crash took place with the car in front, forcing it into the back of the initial vehicle.
The crash left five individuals with minor injuries, who were transported to nearby medical facilities, disclosed by the police. Injured in this accident was also a minor.
A rescue helicopter was called into service during the rescue operations. The road needed to be blocked in the direction of the Viernheim interchange so that the helicopter could land, according to the police. Moreover, there were also hold-ups on the opposite side, where a vehicle required towing due to a blown tire, as reported.
The five individuals and the minor were all injured in theaccident. Due to the helicopter's arrival, traffic was also disrupted on the opposite side, causing additional delays due to a vehicle with a blown tire.
