Wiesbaden - Road closure due to burst water pipe at the main station

A water main break at Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof caused significant traffic disruptions on Wednesday. The Gustav-Stresemann-Ring, a heavily trafficked street in Wiesbaden's city center, was closed in both directions, according to ESWE Versorgungs AG's announcement on Wednesday. According to a police spokesperson, there were significant disruptions in both individual and bus traffic. The closure was predicted to last until the middle or end of next week, they said.

Since the street was heavily flooded, the energy supplier expects a minimum two-week repair. The water supply in the surrounding area is not affected. A traffic office is working on a detour, they said. According to the police, parts of the street collapsed. Passersby reported a massive water leak in the morning.

Hessenwasser, the regional water supplier, stated that the water supply was not endangered. An ESWE spokesperson stated that this was not a pipe supplying end consumers. Both companies are now working on repairing the damage, and the street was initially resurfaced.

The bus traffic is also affected by the closure. Two bus stops at the Hauptbahnhof are currently inaccessible, according to ESWE Verkehr's announcement. The reliability of all line schedules that go to or through the Hauptbahnhof is currently uncertain. Delays are possible according to a spokesperson, and starting from the beginning of next week, there will reportedly be an emergency plan in place for the bus lines.
