Railroad - RMV: More than half a million Deutschlandticket subscriptions

The Rhine-Main Transport Association (RMV) records over half a million Germany-Ticket subscriptions. This number has also been boosted by the switch of 89,000 students to the Germany-Semester-Ticket. The current number of active subscriptions is 530,000, according to RMV's announcement on a Wednesday. The Germany-Ticket is performing excellently.

"It's important that people are reliable in coming," emphasized RMV Supervisory Board Chairman Ulrich Krebs. "Especially due to personnel shortages and the high construction activity, delays and cancellions have reached an unacceptable level nationwide and in the RMV region." Construction work should be completed punctually and not disrupt the schedule, he demanded. In addition, transportation companies were also asked to hire sufficient personnel.

RMV Managing Director Knut Ringat expressed his long-term commitment to the Germany-Ticket, "so that on the part of passengers and the industry there is planning security." Previously, the Hessian CDU had spoken out against the ticket at its party conference. In it, the state government and the CDU state group in the Bundestag are called upon to advocate for the end of the 49-Euro-Ticket.

After the Supervisory Board meeting, the RMV also announced a price increase of approximately four percent on average as of January 1, 2025. This is necessary to secure the transport offer due to rising personnel and energy costs. Energy costs alone are expected to be around 50 percent above the 2022 level. Approximately, the price for a single fare for adults in Frankfurt will rise from 3.65 Euro to 3.80 Euro. A journey from Frankfurt to Wiesbaden then costs 11 Euro instead of 10.55 Euro. The price for the Germany-Ticket remains unchanged at 49 Euro per month.
