Rising number of overnight stays in Bremen and Bremerhaven
The state of Bremen is becoming increasingly popular with tourists. He assumes that there will be 2.4 million overnight stays in Bremen this year, surpassing the record year of 2019, said Oliver Rau from WFB Wirtschaftsförderung Bremen at a trade event in Bremerhaven on Thursday.
Compared to the previous year, there had been a 14 percent increase in overnight stays and arrivals in the state of Bremen in the first eight months, said Martin Bialluch (Left Party), State Councillor at the Senator for Economic Affairs. Despite the war, financial bottlenecks and a shortage of skilled workers, the desire to travel remains unbroken.
Ralf Meyer from Bremerhaven's Department of Economics, Tourism and Science said that the state wanted to use artificial intelligence (AI), among other things, to counter the shortage of skilled workers in the industry. AI could be used for personalized recommendations or as a route planner, for example. Both Bremen and Bremerhaven want to use recruitment campaigns, but also continue to specifically recruit skilled workers.
The surge in tourism is evident in Bremen and Bremerhaven, with projections indicating 2.4 million overnight stays in Bremen this year, surpassing the 2019 record. This increase in tourism is contributing to the economic growth of both cities, despite challenges such as the war, financial constraints, and a skilled worker shortage.
