In the weekend's poll, the group supporting President Emmanuel Macron ended up in third place with 19.5% of the vote. The conservative Republicans followed closely behind in fourth place with 7%. Interestingly, RN voters are the most certain about their decision, with only 13% showing signs of a potential change. The left-wing alliance came in with 19%.

The RN had a landslide victory in the European election on June 9, securing 31.4% of the votes. On the other hand, Macron's list took a hit with just 14.6% of the votes. Following the RN's election victory, Macron surprisingly proposed new elections for the National Assembly. These elections will take place in rounds on June 30 and July 7. The survey suggests a voter turnout between 60 and 64%, which is much higher than the 2022 election's 47.5%.

While Macron has the power to appoint a prime minister, he is dependent on this individual achieving a majority in the National Assembly. If this doesn't happen, we might see a situation known as cohabitation, where the president and the head of government belong to different factions. There's some worry that the right-wing populists, the left-wing alliance, and the government camp might end up stalemating each other permanently.

Chancellor Scholz expressed worry about the elections in the neighboring country during his ARD summer interview. He stated, "I'm concerned about the elections in France," and hoped that parties other than Le Pen would succeed in the election. However, Scholz added that he would still be meeting with Macron in committees, stating, "That would be a change."

Scholz also voiced his concern about the results of the European elections in other countries. He said, "The results here in Germany are at least as concerning to me as the results we've seen in France." In Germany, the AfD was the second strongest force with 15.9%, trailing behind the Union, which received 30%. Right-wing extremist parties also saw significant success in Austria and Italy's elections.
