- Right-wing extremist Sellner provokes a demonstration against his book
Right-wing extremist Martin Sellner caused unrest at a demonstration against his own book reading in Saarbrücken. He appeared shortly before the start of the event in front of the Europa Gallery, the police reported. There, he was reportedly "provocatively" promoting his book "Remigration". At that time, there were already many people present who had responded to the call of the group "Grandmas Against the Right" for the protest action.
Sellner left the event location shortly afterwards. Around a hundred demonstrators took part in the subsequent rally.
Sellner was the leader of the right-wing extremist Identitarian Movement in Austria. In November 2023, he had spoken about "Remigration" at a meeting in a Potsdam villa. The media house "Correctiv" had made the meeting public. When right-wing extremists use the term, they usually mean that a large number of people of foreign origin should leave the country - even by force.
Sellner's provocative actions at the Europa Gallery, where Saar bridges are located, stirred up tension during his book promotion. Despite the controversy, the protest organized by "Grandmas Against the Right" attracted numerous participants at the event.
