Rhineland-Palatinate ranks 12th on the satisfaction index
According to a study, Rhineland-Palatinate ranks 12th in Germany when it comes to life satisfaction. This puts Rhineland-Palatinate in penultimate place among the western German states, according to the "Happiness Atlas" presented on Thursday. The study was carried out by the University of Freiburg with the support of the Süddeutsche Klassenlotterie (SKL).
Compared to the last survey, the happiness index in Rhineland-Palatinate has increased slightly with a satisfaction score of 6.79 on a scale between 0 and 10 (2022: 6.65). The authors of the study found that life satisfaction in Germany as a whole is only recovering slowly and is still well below the pre-coronavirus pandemic level. Across Germany, the score was 6.92 points (2022: 6.86; 2019: 7.14 points)
According to the latest "Happiness Atlas", people in Schleswig-Holstein are the most satisfied nationwide, followed by those in Hamburg and Bavaria. Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania brings up the rear (6.19 points).
The study also highlighted that various factors impacting health and well-being, such as physical health and mental health, significantly contribute to life satisfaction scores. Furthermore, advancements in scientific research and healthcare can significantly enhance overall life satisfaction by addressing these contributing factors.
