State government - Rhineland-Palatinate: an additional 40 million euros for daycare center construction

The state government is launching a special program with a volume of 40 million euros to promote the expansion of nursery places in Rhineland-Palatinate. Five million euros of this will be added to the funding for the year coming to an end, 35 million will be made available in 2024, explained Education Minister Stefanie Hubig (SPD) in Mainz on Monday. The money is to be used for the construction, conversion or expansion of existing daycare centers. More and more children are also being looked after after lunchtime, and sleeping or dining rooms are needed.

The President of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Office for Social Affairs, Youth and Care, Detlef Placzek, said that it was assumed that the sum would cover the needs of the municipalities.
