Flood - Rhine level in Mainz reaches navigation high water mark I
The thaw and rain are causing the water in the Rhine to continue to rise. High water mark I of 4.75 meters was reached at the Mainz gauge on Tuesday morning, according to the flood forecasting center of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Office for the Environment. Ships are therefore only allowed to sail at a slower speed and in the middle of the Rhine. According to forecasts by the flood forecasting service, the water level is expected to rise further during the course of the day.
