Domestic safety measures - Restrictions on Traffic during the Ukraine Reconstruction Conference

During the Ukraine reconstruction conference in Berlin, traffic restrictions will also be in place throughout the city on Tuesday. The Traffic Information Center reported two separate orders affecting Mitte and parts of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf.

In Mitte, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., there will be extensive traffic limitations and security measures. The security zone will be bordered by Paulstraße to the north, Bellevue Ufer to the northwest, Großer Stern to the southwest, Spreeweg/John-Foster-Dulles-Allee to the south, and John-Foster-Dulles-Allee and Großfürstenplatz to the east. Everyone, including locals and authorized personnel, must carry an ID or service/company badge when moving through the area.

In Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, a security zone has been established between Hardenbergplatz/Hardenbergstraße/Joachimsthaler Straße, Joachimsthaler Straße/Kantstraße, Kantstraße/Joachimsthaler Straße, and Budapester Straße/Kantstraße/Hardenbergstraße. Cars, along with pedestrians in certain areas, will be restricted within this area.

On Hardenbergstraße and Budapester Straße, cars will be prohibited from traveling in both directions between Kurfürstenstraße and Fasanenstraße. The Hardenbergstraße will be closed to traffic heading toward Zoologischer Garten from Ernst-Reuter-Platz. Until Wednesday night, Jafféstraße in Westend will not be accessible to car traffic going both ways between Messedamm and Heerstraße.

Public transportation is also affected by these restrictions. The Berlin S-Bahn has made adjustments to some schedules. Be prepared for major setbacks, particularly in bus services.

The central bus hub in the western inner city, Hardenbergplatz and the Zoologischer Garten stop, is impacted by the restrictions. There are restrictions on the Messedamm and the Spreeweg in Tiergarten as well. At the Bundestag U-Bahn station, two exits will be temporarily closed.

Most of these measures will remain in place until late Tuesday afternoon. It's recommended that passengers check their travel plans online.
