Restriction on Travel to Capri Enforced due to Water Scarcity

The temporary travel ban has been enforced due to a technical problem affecting the mainland-provided drinking water supply on Capri. As per the mayor, Falco, the island is currently facing a dire situation. Although there's some water stored in the island's wells, the situation is precarious and could worsen. With thousands of tourists visiting daily, it's impossible to maintain this status quo.

In this critical moment, Capri residents will be provided with 25 liters of water per household via a tanker. Known for its white villas, picturesque coastline with tiny bays, and lavish hotels, Capri - home to around 13,000 permanent residents and numerous day-trippers due to its location near Naples - finds itself in a tough spot.

Mayor Falco has appealed to visitors to understand the gravity of the situation and consider limiting their visits. Despite the 'lack of water', Capri's popular attractions such as its white villas and picturesque coastline continue to draw tourists, exacerbating the water crisis.
