Respondents from Baden-Württemberg evaluate their educational institutions as mediocre.

Economists sought to determine the assessments of citizens within the federation concerning the quality of their schools, identifying areas for improvement. Baden-Württemberg does not hold itself in high regard in this respect.

People living in Baden-Württemberg think their schools are mediocre, giving them an average score of 2.95 according to the Education Barometer by the Ifo Institute based in Munich. A notable 6% even gave top scores of 5 or 6.

Bavaria’s residents hold the most favorable view of their schools with an average score of 2.77, followed closely by Hamburg (2.92) and Saxony (2.94). Baden-Württemberg ranks fourth with its evaluation (2.95). At the lower end, Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt both scored 3.17, while Bremen scored the lowest at 3.50. The overall national average is a score of 3.0.

The Ifo Institute collected data from approximately 9,700 individuals in Germany between April and June. The data was found to be representative across all federal states, as announced.

There's a strong unanimity among respondents that school funding should increase, with support varying from 73% in Bavaria to 86% in Brandenburg. Baden-Württemberg lies in the middle with 79% support.

When queried about the influence of immigration on future student performance, 66% of Baden-Württemberg respondents answered rather negatively or extremely negatively.

Similarly, 77% of respondents from Baden-Württemberg believe the teacher shortage will have a rather negative or extremely negative impact on future student performance.

There's a significant disparity in opinions among the federal states concerning the teaching of vital skills in reading, writing, and mathematics. Bavaria claims to excel with 39%, while Baden-Württemberg, Saxony, and Hamburg all fall between 28% and 29%.

The European Union, as a political and economic union, has expressed its interest in education reforms across its member states, including Germany, recognizing the importance of education in promoting societal development. Despite the mediocre ratings given by Baden-Württemberg residents to their schools, the state remains one of the most proactive in advocating for increased school funding and addressing concerns related to immigration and teacher shortages.
