Resident parking in Berlin to become more expensive
Resident parking is soon to become more expensive in Berlin. This was announced by Transport Senator Manja Schreiner on Tuesday after a meeting of the black-red Senate. "We are currently looking into the issue," said the CDU politician. The annual vignette currently costs 10.20 euros. The amount should be raised. "We are currently deciding on the amount," said Schreiner.
The previous red-green-red senate had proposed 120 euros per year. "It will definitely not be 120," assured the transport senator. The current governing mayor and CDU state leader had criticized the red-green-red plans at the time as a "rip-off" and stressed that many Berliners were dependent on cars and could not afford a significant increase in the vignette.
The proposed price increase by the previous Senate for the annual resident parking vignette in Berlin was 120 euros. There might be discussions about traffic regulations in the Senate, affecting social affairs and environmental concerns, as the cost of resident parking becomes a topic of debate in health and wellbeing of citizens who rely on cars.
