administration - Residence can be digitally registered in 19 municipalities
Starting Thursday, residents in 19 Rhineland-Palatinate municipalities can digitally register their residence from home. "In the future, more and more municipalities will be added, until ultimately all 170 registration offices in Rhineland-Palatinate are connected," the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of the Interior announced. According to Digitalization Minister Dörte Schall (SPD), other administrative services will also be digitized this year.
The electronic residence registration will be possible, for example, in Trier, Pirmasens, and Zweibrücken, as well as in 16 association municipalities. For use, a personal ID with online ID function, a German ID account, and the ID app 2 are required. The address stored on the ID can then be adjusted directly on the smartphone. A sticker with the new address for the ID will be sent home.

After announcing the digital residence registration expansion, the ministry mentioned that Trier is one of the municipalities where this service will be available. Additionally, as the minister mentioned, besides Trier, other municipalities like Pirmasens and Zweibrücken will also offer this digital service.
