Searching for an individual to conduct an interview. - Research to Examine Mortality Rates during Pandemic Crisis

A crew from the Hannover Medical University (MHH) is set to delve into the scientific aspects of supporting individuals as they approach death during the COVID-19 pandemic. They're on the hunt for individuals who lost a close one between March 2020 and January 2023, and are brave enough to share their tales. The task of being by the side of terminally ill loved ones or buddies was particularly hard during the COVID-19 era due to hospital visit limitations and apprehensions about contagion.

According to MHH's announcements, these visit limitations and infection fears hampered the provision of care during the end-of-life stage. Numerous loved ones and friends couldn't bid an appropriate farewell, and desired farewell ceremonies turned out to be impossible.

The researchers are planning to conduct an approximately 60-minute interview and complete a short survey. Should there be a need, an interpreter will be provided for the discussion. This is a joint initiative of the Institute of General Medicine and Palliative Care at MHH, collaborating with the Department of Palliative Medicine at the University Medical Center Göttingen.

The researchers at Hannover Medical University (MHH) emphasized the importance of incorporating health and safety measures during their study, considering the challenges faced in providing end-of-life care due to COVID-19 restrictions. To ensure inclusive participation, they will provide interpreters if needed, promoting a safe environment for all participants.
