Research, therapy, participation: Congress on Long Covid
The long-term consequences of Covid-19 disease will be the focus of a congress in Jena from Friday. According to the organizers, around 2,000 doctors, scientists and those affected are expected to come together to discuss new research findings on the mechanisms of Long Covid and therapeutic approaches, either on site or online. One focus is the participation of those affected in social and working life. The two-day congress is being organized by Jena University Hospital and the Long Covid Medical Association.
The long-term consequences of Covid-19 disease caused by the coronavirus include chronic fatigue, significant concentration problems and persistent breathing difficulties. With Long Covid, these symptoms last longer than four weeks after the coronavirus infection, with the Post Covid subtype longer than twelve weeks.
The discussion at the congress on Long Covid also highlights the need for further scientific research on various diseases caused by the coronavirus, such as Covid-19. This understanding of the disease can lead to innovative therapies to alleviate symptoms and improve the overall health of affected individuals.
