1st FC Kaiserslautern - Reports: Klose will not be coach - Grammozis in talks

Former world champion Miroslav Klose is apparently no longer among the candidates for the coaching position at his former club 1. FC Kaiserslautern. This was reported by Sport1. The second division soccer club surprisingly parted ways with promotion coach Dirk Schuster on Thursday. In the away game against 1. FC Magdeburg this Saturday, the team will be coached by the existing coaching team of Oliver Schäfer, Niklas Martin, Andreas Clauß and team manager Florian Dick. Although FCK managing director Thomas Hengen had already met with former German international Klose before parting ways with Schuster, the possible engagement did not materialize, according to Sport1. Michael Wimmer, currently coach at Austria Vienna, is also said to be out of the running.

Klose coached Austrian first division club SCR Altach until March of this year. Since then, the 2014 world champion has been without a club; the former goalscorer is also a Champions League pundit for Amazon Prime Video. Klose once made his Bundesliga debut with FCK before moving to Werder Bremen in 2004. Dimitrios Grammozis, who played for Kaiserslautern for five years, is now a possible coaching candidate. According to Sky, FCK managing director Thomas Hengen has held talks with the 45-year-old former coach of Darmstadt 98 and FC Schalke 04. Hengen and Grammozis played together for Kaiserslautern from 2001 to 2004.
