Soccer - Report: Dortmund plan Sancho return in exchange for Malen
According to a media report, England international Jadon Sancho could return to Borussia Dortmund this winter. According to the newspaper "Bild", the Bundesliga club is planning a swap deal with Sancho's current employers Manchester United, as the Premier League club is said to be interested in BVB attacker Donyell Malen. Malen's clear goal is to move to England. Accordingly, Dortmund could initially loan out their ex-professional Sancho or settle accounts with Malen.
The 23-year-old Sancho played for BVB from 2017 to 2021, where he also became an England international. He moved to Manchester United for a transfer fee of at least €85 million and still has a contract there until mid-2026. However, he no longer plays a sporting role in Manchester and was no longer a member of the professional squad. Following his criticism of coach Erik ten Hag, the attacking player has fallen out of favor and the club is looking for a winter transfer.
However, BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl rejected rumors of a Sancho return two months ago. That was not an issue at all at the moment, Kehl had said, adding: "We have enough options, at the moment we have a full squad."
