Report: Coach Nenad Bjelica about to sign with Union
After persistent rumors about the signing of world star Raúl, the Croatian Nenad Bjelica is to become the new coach of Bundesliga club Union Berlin instead, according to media reports. The 52-year-old is expected to sign his contract with the club on Sunday, as reported by the TV channel Sky. Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio from Sky Sport Italia also reported similarly.
On Saturday evening, "Kicker" initially reported that there were increasing signs that Real Madrid legend Raúl would take over from long-time successful coach Urs Fischer at the Köpenickers. Union and the Swiss coach parted company by mutual agreement last week after months without a win and a slide into the relegation zone.
Bjelica was coach at Turkish first division club Trabzonspor until mid-October. He gained Champions League experience with Dinamo Zagreb and Austria Vienna.
