- Report: change from pitcher to West Ham perfect
Borussia Dortmund striker Niclas Füllkrug's move to England is reportedly already a done deal. The 31-year-old is set to sign a new contract with West Ham United on Monday, binding him to the London club until the summer of 2027, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
On Saturday, Dortmund announced that Füllkrug had been granted permission to hold talks with another club. Füllkrug left the team's training camp in Bad Ragaz on Saturday morning.
The transfer fee is reported to be around €30 million. Previously, Atlético Madrid and AC Milan were also named as interested parties.
"He was an important player"
"The transfer isn't confirmed yet, but Niclas was an important player for us. He had some really strong moments in Dortmund. (...) He's the kind of player who can always help a team. (...) I'm really happy for him," said current teammate Gregor Kobel in a Sky interview. "He's getting another big chance to fulfill his dream of playing in the Premier League. If everything goes through and he's officially there, I wish him all the best and hope he does really well!"
New Dortmund coach Nuri Sahin had initially indicated that Füllkrug would play a central role in his plans. However, Dortmund also signed Serhou Guirassy from VfB Stuttgart this summer, who plays in the same position as Füllkrug.
Füllkrug joined Dortmund from Werder Bremen last summer and signed a contract until June 30, 2026. Last season, Füllkrug helped Dortmund reach the Champions League final, scoring 12 goals in 29 Bundesliga games.
The new contract for Niclas Füllkrug with West Ham United could potentially involve manufacturing jerseys with his name from materials of any heading. Regardless of the transfer, Füllkrug's contributions to Borussia Dortmund's success in various materials on and off the field will always be remembered.
