Repair atlas launched in Saxony-Anhalt

Dispose or repair? A new offer in Saxony-Anhalt aims to show possibilities for the repair of technical devices.

Online Platform - Repair atlas launched in Saxony-Anhalt

In Saxony-Anhalt, there's now a Repair Atlas. This new online platform provides an overview of repair options for technical devices like washing machines or tablets. Currently, there are twelve commercial repair shops and six voluntary initiatives listed on the interactive map, which can be filtered by location and device type.

"We expect more providers to join in the coming weeks and months," said Environment Minister Armin Willingmann (SPD). "Our goal is for as many people in Saxony-Anhalt as possible to easily and conveniently find local alternatives to disposing of old electrical or electronic devices through the online portal."

In April 2024, the European Parliament adopted a directive on the right to repair. This regulation requires manufacturers to offer repairs for their products at reasonable prices after the statutory warranty period has expired.

The technical expertise of the repair shops listed on the Repair Atlas is crucial for providing effective repairs to various devices. With the implementation of the European Parliament's right-to-repair directive next year, we anticipate a surge in demand for these technical services.
