Young explorers stumbled upon an isolated skull without a connected corpse in an uncultivated property situated in Essen's northern region. Preliminary assessments by authorities suggested the skull had been resting there for several months, as stated by a law enforcement representative. The skull was safeguarded, and the scene was isolated. Subsequent examination of the location revealed additional bones, yet it remains uncertain if these are also deceased remains.

The deceased's identity and the details surrounding the situation remain a mystery, according to the authorities. Investigations are being actively pursued, the representative continued. The skull will be analyzed by the medical examiner's office. Upon discovery around 4 PM on Monday, the vicinity was meticulously scanned with a tracking dog, a drone, and a team of 100 officers. Portions of the area were even cleared for this specific purpose, reported the authorities. Previously, this information was released by the WAZ.

The authorities have deployed a team of police officers to secure and oversee the investigation site. Furthermore, the local police will likely be involved if the deceased's identity or the cause of death cannot be determined through initial investigations.
