Due to a blunder by an operator at a biogas facility, numerous liters of waste ended up in the little river Prim. As reported by the police on Friday, this mishap led to contamination of the Prim's tributary, the Neckar, over a stretch of approximately 1.5 kilometers. Consequent events led to the demise of several fish in the vicinity of Spaichingen, located in the Tuttlingen district.

Efforts have been made to clean up the contaminated areas, a police spokesperson conveyed. Additionally, the local wastewater treatment plant has been notified about the incident.

The Prim originates from the Große Heuberg and flows into the Neckar, basically opposite the Rottweiler station.

The contamination of the Neckar affected an area other than its initial source. To prevent such incidents in the future, stricter safety measures should be implemented at biogas facilities near water sources.
