Relief at BVB: "These have not been easy days"
Sebastian Kehl reacted with great relief to Borussia Dortmund's hard-fought 4:2 (3:2) victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach. "The win was important to calm things down. It hasn't been an easy few days," said the sporting director of the Bundesliga club, referring to the harsh criticism of the team following their poor performance two weeks earlier in Stuttgart (1:2).
Kehl pointed to the great morale of the team, which turned the game around after trailing 2-0 early on thanks to goals from Marcel Sabitzer (30'), Niclas Füllkrug (32'), Jamie Bynoe-Gittens (45') and Donyell Malen (90+7): "We showed comeback qualities again. That doesn't always have to be the case, we don't need that every time. It's a characteristic of the team this season."
After previously going three Bundesliga games without a win, BVB averted a further dip in spirits. "It's definitely not going to be boring with us this season. A big compliment to the team for their morale, energy and belief," commented Edin Terzic. The coach saw the performance as a source of encouragement for the two upcoming tough games at AC Milan (Tuesday) and in Leverkusen (Sunday): "It was extremely important that we started the next block with a win."
Terzic has not yet written off attackers Karim Adeyemi and Sebastien Haller, who were missing against Mönchengladbach due to a cold, for the Champions League game in Milan: "We hope that both of them will get better as soon as possible so that they can travel with us on Monday." Kehl expressed a similar view: "We hope that both are an option. But we'll have to wait and see how things develop."
Borussia Dortmund's victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga was significant for Borussia Dortmund's Sebastian Kehl, as he noted the team's comeback qualities, having trailed 2-0 at half-time. Despite the harsh criticism following their poor performance in Stuttgart, Kehl praised the team's morale, which was evident in their second-half comeback. Furthermore, Karim Adeyemi and Sebastien Haller, who were missing due to a cold, could potentially return for Borussia Dortmund's upcoming Champions League game against AC Milan.
