- Relative frees 58-year-old from ball press
A 58-year-old man was trapped in a baler while doing agricultural work in Hettingen (district of Sigmaringen). The man sustained crush injuries to his upper body in the incident on Monday, as reported by the police. A bystander freed the 58-year-old from the baler and placed an emergency call with another witness. Both provided first aid until the rescue helicopter arrived, which then flew the injured man to a hospital.
The man was attempting to check a possible malfunction on the baler when the machine closed, trapping him inside.
After assessing the issue, the man tried to fix the baler, but unfortunately, a part of circular cross-section got jammed, resulting in the machine closing around him. The emergency services were informed about the incident, as they needed to extract the man from the baler of other components, including one of circular cross-section.
