"Reichsbürger" raid: 20 officers on duty
As part of the raid against "Reich citizens" in eight federal states, a property was also searched in Brandenburg. According to a spokesperson for the police headquarters, 20 state security officers from the State Criminal Police Office and the riot police were involved on Thursday. The number of officers involved was first reported by rbb.
The police spokesman did not provide any further details about the operation. Like the Ministry of the Interior, he referred to the press sovereignty of the Munich public prosecutor's office in charge. According to information from the German Press Agency, the search is said to have taken place in the district of Oberspreewald-Lausitz in southern Brandenburg.
Around 280 officers searched 20 homes in eight federal states on Thursday morning in connection with investigations into suspected "Reich citizens". The 20 suspects, aged between 25 and 74, are accused of forming a criminal organization, as Bavaria's Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann and Bavaria's Justice Minister Georg Eisenreich (both CSU) announced.
During the raid, concerns about potential links between extremism and criminal activities within the "Reich citizens" group were evident. Subsequently, investigators seized evidence related to alleged crimes.
