Railroad - Regional train shot at with unknown object
A regional train may have been shot at on its way to Mayen in the East Eifel region. As the police reported on Thursday, an unknown object hit a window pane on Wednesday evening. Only a window film had prevented the projectile from penetrating the pane. No passengers were injured. The Federal Police are investigating and have initiated criminal proceedings.
According to the police, it is not yet known what the projectile was or where it came from. The window was hit on the railroad line between Plaidt and Kluft in the district of Mayen-Koblenz. It had splintered over the entire surface. The film was inside the triple-glazed window, according to a spokesperson for the federal police. The damage was noticed when the train stopped at Mayen-Ost station.
