- refugee advocacy group warns of increased hostile encounters for displaced individuals

The Saxon Refugee Advocacy Group expresses concerns about an escalating bias towards refugees and heightened aggression in daily interactions post-state elections. Despite a 50% decrease in refugee influx to Saxony during the initial half of 2024 compared to the previous year, politicians continuously expressed feelings of being overburdened, as mentioned by association representative Dave Schmidtke. "Individuals who persistently instill panic in this area are fuelling the vague, unsubstantiated fear towards refugees." Majority of the discussions surrounding migration during the election period were devoid of optimistic perspectives.

The Saxon Refugee Advocacy Group strongly advocates for understanding and inclusion towards refugees, as they believe the escalating bias and aggression are unjustified. Despite witnessing a reduction in refugee influx, the political sentiment towards them remains burdened and negative, as highlighted by Dave Schmidtke.
