One day after the German national football squad made its debut at the home European Championship, the two German referees also had their first appearance. Felix Zwayer will officiate the group stage clash between defending champions Italy and Albania in Dortmund on Saturday (9 p.m./ARD and MagentaTV), as UEFA revealed. Daniel Siebert will be the fourth official.

This is a significant milestone for 43-year-old Zwayer in his career, as it's his first big tournament in the men's category where he'll be on the field. For Siebert, a 40-year-old, the EM, set to kick off with host Germany and Scotland in Munich on Friday night, is the third such event in a row. Siebert was also active at the EM three years ago and the Winter World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
